USING AN INDUCTION HOB WITH A PACEMAKER

Pacemakers are small electrical devices and regulate electrical activity in the heart.

Anything that produces a strong electromagnetic field can interfere with a pacemaker.

Induction hobs do generate electro magnetic fields, so keep at least 60-70cm
(2 - 3 ft) away from the hob.

Other appliances with magnetics include hand held hairdryers, old shavers with electric cards, large stereo speakers, electric toothbrushes.

If you do use them, then keep 16-20cvm (6-10in) away from your pacemaker.

Othere devices to avoid if you have a pacemaker

  • Abdominal stimulator (muscle builder)
  • Electronic bodyfat scales.
  • Magnetic mattress pads or pillows.
  • Welding equipment.

A MESSAGE FROM ELECTRICAL SAFETY FIRST

After shelling out a couple of hundred pounds for a phone, it’s tempting to cut corners when it comes to replacing a worn-out charger. After all, how dangerous can a charger really be?
Pretty dangerous, actually. Electrical Safety First tested a range of fake iPhone chargers and found that 98% of them had the potential to cause a lethal electric shock or start a fire. It’s a scary thought, especially when you think about how often we continue to use our phones while they’re charging. And if you leave yours to charge overnight, you have even more reason to be concerned.
If you're interested in learning the tell-tale signs of a fake charger, visit electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/fakechargers
Join the conversation on social media – Electrical Safety First are posting on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #SpotTheFake!

Electrical Safety Legislation
It is likely that a bill will become legislation in 2017/2018 making it a mandatory requirement for ‘all’ private sector landlords to carry out Electrical Safety checks every 5 years.

At present is is only necessary for landlords to ensure electrical installations are kept in safe working order, there is no legal requirement to confirm the electrical installations are regularly checked, unless they are a House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO).

Electrical Regulations
18th Edition of BS7671
18th Edition of BS7671 IET wiring regulations are already underway. The new standard is due to be published 1st July 2018 with a six month transition period. The new standards will have changes relating to safety around energy efficiency.

17.01.17 - Health and Safety SMAS Worksafe Certification

We continue to operate with a ‘Health and Safety SMAS Worksafe Certification’
This demonstates to our customers, the likes of Redrow Homes, RWE and many more that we ensure our Health and Safety is kept fully up to date.

Our Engineers keep up to date with training eg. Asbestos Awareness etc, and we continually have Tool Box Talks on various subjects, which also gives our Engineers the opportunity to give their ideas or feedback regarding Health and Safety.

Having been trading for some 37 years and being NICEIC Registered, we again have just completed our annual NICEIC Inspection Day, where Haydn Royles, our Qualifying Manager, takes a Senior NICEIC Inspector to view the work we have carried out.

I am pleased to say that our Inspection was a quality result and we again received comments such as ‘Keep up the Good Work’

07.11.16 - Thank you Letter

We raised some money for a small charity in Praia Da Luz, Portugal, when we had a function there recently, as there is no official palliative care system in place there, and we received this letter back - click here to see the letter.
